Kitsune of Inari

Fushimi Inari is one of the most popular shrines in Japan. It is up a mountain and has probably thousands of Torii Gates (big orange gates iconic of Japan). Inari is the Kami (god/goddess) of the Sun, Fertility and harvest and their messenger is the fox, Kitsune in japanese. In addition to the Torii tons of kitsune were standing watch with one of the following in their mouth: An orb representing prosperity or wealth, a key said to be the key to a great grain storehouse, a scroll containing the prayers to the gods, or a sheaf of grain.
